abstract = "This study examined the environmental changes between two time
periods that have occurred on the section corresponding de Jaguari
town (RS) on the Jaguari River. For this analysis used
Multispectral images from Landsat-5 satellite to verify the
changes in landscape, between the years 1983 and 2010. For this
work the use of ArcGIS® geoprocessing tools and Envi® to do
analyses of area of interest. How to limit the area of study
applied a buffer of 500 meters on the banks of the River. After
completed all analyses, we obtained numerical data, which served
to compare areas counterparts. We obtained a 43.55% increase in
the flooded area and an area of 16.71% decrease of vegetation.
Increase Riverbed is directly linked to two factors, deforestation
and the actual increase of extreme events (the silting of the
river result of floods which besides the river overflows in the
rainy season, contributed to the collapse of the margins). One can
also relate the collapse of the slopes of the river with livestock
farming in the region by the action of the animals that leave the
                         soil with less protection.",
